NOV. 1986

A giant thank you to all the great people at Line Records and Melodie der Welt in Germany and at FM / Revolver Records in Great Britain! Thanks to them I had a great time on my European trip in October. It may have not been quite as good as Chevy Chase in National Lampoon's European Vacation, but I didn't have to check into the Betty Ford Center when I got back, either.

I have indeed shifted into high gear on this one, and have six tunes polished & ready to go, with the rest to be completely written before the beginning of 1987. It does not look like Jan Hammer will be involved much in my next album, but there will be some other interesting people, I can assure you.

This is a question still asked by some of you writing in. The Answer is NO. Dennis' last name is spelled DeYoung, and mine is spelled Young. We are both Bears fans, though.

The onIy Styx Video for sale is the "Caught in the Act" (The Kilroy Tour) offering from A&M Home Video. You can order it by writing to A & M Video, P.O. Box 118, Hollywood, CA 90028. Order with credit card by dialing 1-818-886-1881 (not a free call). Price is still $29.95 plus shipping and handling.

A young man seeks fame & fortune by simply becoming skilled as a guitarist. The next thing you know, people are basing decisions in their lives on the words in the songs he writes. What started out as a career in avoiding the responsibilities, boredom & constraints of a 9 to 5 job turns into a career that carries even greater responsibility.

With this responsibility in mind, I offer the following message for the upcoming holidays. Even though Madonna is a material girl (and Sean is really a bad boy, isn't he?), I am here to tell you that materialism cannot bring you happiness. Just because someone has more money or clothes or whatever than you (and there is always somebody richer), that does not mean they are happy or at peace. So Lighten Up Already, Life Ain't So Bad!

         Talk to you in January.
